Thoughts on hairspray.

Ya... A little bit of hairspray goes a long way!

10 things I'm thankful for!

On Facebook, some of my friends have started listing "30 days of thankfulness". I have joined in listing my 30 things but I started thinking"only 30?- I can list way more than that!"... but time seems to get in the way when actually sitting down and writing them down & since I began writing this post two months ago I think its time to just go with ten and hit publish.
Being grateful for all the things big and small is very powerful because focusing on what you love will cause it to multiply. So here's my BIG 10...

1. Being me! It's a speciality of mine and I do it better than anyone else in this entire world.  I'm hardly perfect and sure, sometimes I look in the mirror and stick my tongue out at the person looking back, but I'm so fortunate to have been born into this body and to be who I am. I have so much to offer the world and being in it has made it a bit brighter.  I have done so much for myself and will aways do what it takes to take care of me because I'm independent, I believe in my dreams and I like that about myself.

2. The kindness of strangers.  It makes me especially happy when older women call me honey, I feel love from that. I love it when someone I don't know smiles at me or says or does something nice, just because.

3. My friends. If I named them all individually, from wonderful acquaintances to tried and true friends, it would be a very long list. I don't have a large number of close friends, but I do know there are a lot of good people, near and far, who I can count on, who care about me, and who want only the best for me. I truly value my friends and will never have "enough" or too many. They give me advice, let me bitch about my life and celebrate by triumphs. It doesn't get much better than that.

4. My beautiful boys!  They fill my heart with a a pure, complete unconditional love. I'm amazed at their wisdom, tickled by their humor, softened by their love and proud of them in every way.  I'm so honored they chose me to pass through into this life and be their mom.

5. Hot showers. Iv e had my hot water heater go out and spent a few days taking cold showers... it's very unpleasant! That really struck home when I caught a news program once about a homeless camp, these were people who just fell on hard times, lost their jobs, houses etc. and the thing the all said they missed the most was a hot shower. I am very grateful every time I step into the steamy goodness.

6. Microwave ovens/small appliances.  With small boys and not a ton of cooking time they are a single mom's savior.

7. Extra money. When I started my own business (the bridal shoppe-sigh), there were weeks when there was more money going out than coming in. During those times I would have to cash in my loose change to buy bread and milk and call it freezer cleaning week for our dinner. I'm sure from that experience anytime I have an abundance of money past paying my bills and buying the necessities I will give thanks!

8. Lessons learned.  It's not fun to go through hard times; divorce, death, poverty but I know I have to focus on the lesson in this so I will come out smarter, stronger and thankful for the great things, people and opportunities I receive in my life.

9. The ability to make new friends. You never know when you are welcomed into a new group or introduced to new people how they will enrich your life down the road.

10. My youth.  Being in my early 40's, I am thankful to be old enough to know better but still young enough to have my childish/crazy moments.

OK, ONE MORE...  I am so thankful that I am at Kismet. What an unbelievable  opportunity I have received to work in the cute cottage and work on some amazing clients who have given me the chance to fill some very fabulous diva hi-heeled shoes. I know I'm pretty lucky!!
